2009 Legacy Ride

West Virginia ALRsThis was the most awesome ride I have ever been on. Thank you to all that made this possible. My husband Roger and I were most honored to have joined in at Charleston,WV and immediately wished we had rode the entire ride.Roger and I met some wonderful people, and hated to have to leave on Tuesday. We are 3 generation NAVY and currently have a son-in-law that is a P.A. in the Air Force having served 1 tour in Iraq so far. My Father was WWII Army. We joined Post 67 in June due to a poker run and I am now the secretary for the Legion Riders. We are Chapter 1 in WV having formed in 2003. I'll be posting our 911 Memorial Run / BBQ shortly. You may contact me cathy_1@verizon.net any time. Again Thank you to those that put this past weekend together. Cathy

Mid Ohio Valley Chapter event

West Virginia ALRsThere is a ride being planned to take place on July 7th. Route still being worked out. It will end at the Williamstown American Legion at around 4:30-5:00pm. The pork chop dinner begins at 6pm. Both events are in support of the American Legion Legacy Fund -and all proceeds will be the Mid Ohio Valley American Legion Riders contribution to this fund. I am the rep for the American Legion Department of West Virginia in soliciting funds from all Legion posts within West Virginia. West Virginia's contribution will go with our Department Commander to Reno Nevada in August to be given to the National Commander during the American Legion National Convention. All states are involved in this money raising venture for the children of soldiers killed in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

There will be VIP's (tentative) from American Legion National Headquarters in Indianapolis attending our pork chop dinner at the Williamstown post. WTAP news and the Parkersburg News will be covering this event as well.

Please come out and support this worthwhile cause - bring other bikers (or cars, etc) as well. I believe our Road Captain will be setting a ride fee of $10 for single and $15 for couple - proceeds to the Legacy Fund. He's also working on t-shirts for the ride.

The Legacy fund has a national Legacy Run from Indianapolis to Reno in August. I have the brochures if you want to see one - they are also placed down at the Legion post.

Also-
This group is not about just wearing a patch - it's a group dedicated to causes within the community - it's about being involved.

Still searching for folks willing to take an officer position - still 3 or 4 to fill.

Call me if you have any questions.

P.S. Need lot's of folks to show up for this ride in July - so please pass the word. There will be a flyer coming out soon once we have the ride specifics worked out.
