New Chapter at Laurel Post 60

Post 47, HdG MD, right on the water where the Susquehanna River enters the Chesapeake Bay, will be having their 2nd Annual Poker Run. Approx 95 miles, mostly country, scheduled to stop at ALL Harford County Legions. Registration is $20 which includes food and "soft" beverages at end of run.

The Joseph L. Davis, Post 47, 501 St John St, Havre de Grace, MD 21078 has started an ALR Chapter and are looking for members. You do not have to be a member of Post 47 but must be a member in good standing of the American Legion Family IAW the National ALR Constitution & By-Laws.

Currently our meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of the month directly after the Post Executive Committeee meeting ends - usually.at 1930hrs.

The ALR Post 116 from Reisterstown, MD is in the preliminary planning stages for the ride out to Indianapolis, IN and then out to Phoenix, AZ for the 2008 Legion Legacy Ride.

If there are any Maryland Posts that are planning on riding out please contact me.

We are leaving Reisterstown, MD on Friday Aug 15th. Planning on a relaxing 2 day ride to Indy to arrive Aug 16th. Get relaxed before the real departure on Sunday the 17th.

If anyone would like to make a donation to the Post 116 ALR for the Legion Legacy Scholarship Ride, mail them to the Post with an earmark for the Legacy Ride.

Lance Sweigart, Dept of Maryland's Service Officer and a Charter member of the Maryland State Chapter of the American Legion Riders has passed. He was in a Motorcycle accident which left him in Critical condition for over a week. Lance was an excellent Service Officer, Legion Rider and a great Husband and Father. He will surely be missed by all. A Memorial service will be held at Post 60 in Laurel, Md on Sunday 7th Jan at 2pm.

Westboro Baptist Church to "attend" funeral...

Members of Post 295 ALR and the Post are raffling a 1974 Corvette with the 454/automatic transmission. Tickets can be purchased on the web at www.post295.org.

Tickets are $20 and only selling 3000 tickets!

Proceeds will go to Post programs like Operation Provide Comfort and our Children and Youth Programs.

Having difficulty locating ALR's in the MD area. Anyone have contact info for post 295 ? They are supposed to have an ALR chapter. Will keep searching and advise others of any findings. Maybe I should start my own chapter then when I get lost I'd know at least where I was lost and not waste time looking for myself. :) Ride safe
